Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Diet With AI is an app developed by an individual developer. There is no company, legal entity, or team behind this app. For questions about this policy, contact: dekstrinlabs@gmail.com
2. What data is stored on your device
The app stores the following data locally on your device using the app's private database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly request an AI nutrition estimate (see section 4).
- User profile: your weight, height, age, sex, activity level, and goal. Used to calculate your daily calorie target.
- Meal log entries: meal names, calorie estimates, and nutrition breakdowns that you add to the app.
- Meal photos: photos you take within the app, stored in the app's private storage on your device.
There are no user accounts. The app does not require you to create a profile or sign in. Your data is not synced to any cloud service.
3. What data is not collected
We do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your device identifier, advertising ID, or IP address linked to your identity
- Your location
- Analytics or usage data (no analytics SDK is used)
- Advertising data (no ads, no advertising SDK)
- Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to a third party (no crash reporting SDK)
4. What is sent to our servers when you request a nutrition estimate
When you photograph a meal and ask the app to estimate its nutrition, the following
is sent to our backend service at api.dekstrinlabs.com:
- The meal photo (image bytes)
- An optional text description of the meal, if you enter one
- An app authentication token that identifies requests as coming from the Diet With AI app (not linked to any individual user)
Our backend does not store the photo or description after processing. The image is discarded once the nutrition estimate is returned to the app.
We do keep a minimal technical request log (timestamp and outcome) for security monitoring and debugging purposes. This log does not contain the meal photo, meal description, or any content from your request.
5. AI service provider — OpenAI
Our backend forwards your meal photo and description to OpenAI using their API. OpenAI generates the nutrition estimate. By using the AI nutrition estimation feature, your meal photo and description may be processed by OpenAI in accordance with their own policies.
We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Privacy Policy if you have questions about how they handle API inputs. We cannot make commitments on OpenAI's behalf.
6. Data retention and deletion
Deleting a meal
You can delete any meal entry from within the app. This removes the entry from your local database. If a photo was attached, the reference is removed from the database; the photo file may remain in your device's storage depending on how your device manages app-private files.
Deleting all your data
Because the app has no accounts and all data is local, you can delete all your data by uninstalling the app. Standard Android uninstall behaviour removes the app's private data directory.
Server-side logs
The technical request log on our server contains no meal content and no personal identifiers. If you believe your data is held server-side and wish to request deletion, contact dekstrinlabs@gmail.com.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, contact dekstrinlabs@gmail.com.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
